Plan for three to six months from the day you sign a contract to the day you swim. Here is how each phase breaks down.
Stage 1: Design and Approval (4 to 10 Weeks)
Before any excavation starts, your pool design needs to be finalised and submitted to Brisbane City Council for approval. Your builder handles the preparation and lodgement of all documents.
Stage 2: Excavation (1 to 2 Weeks)
Once approval is granted, excavation begins. A standard pool in Brisbane takes one to three days to excavate on a flat block.
Stage 3: Steel and Plumbing (1 to 2 Weeks)
The steel reinforcement framework is installed and inspected. Plumbing for returns, skimmers, and water features is set at this stage.
Stage 4: Concrete Pour (1 to 2 Days)
Shotcrete is applied by a specialist crew. The pool shell is formed in a single session. Curing takes several weeks.
Stage 5: Coping, Tiling and Surrounds (2 to 4 Weeks)
Coping, waterline tiles, and feature tiles are installed after the shell has cured.
Stage 6: Pool Finish (1 Week + Curing)
The interior pool finish is applied and cured. Rushing the cure results in a poor finish.
Stage 7: Equipment, Fencing and Commissioning (1 to 2 Weeks)
Pool equipment is installed, fencing is erected, and the pool is filled and balanced.
Total: 3 to 6 Months
